Follow Through

Dr. Dorothy I. Height once told me, when obstacles present themselves, the only way to overcome them is to simply stay focused and get it done.

My family and I recently earned a victory against a high school and the school board. It was emotionally and mentally draining with a shortage of time, a weak opposing argument and a failed administrative staff.

My family; my mother, father, sister, niece and I pulled together as we have never had to before. Our fight was only three days long with what seemed like an impossible deadline and our victory was won 8 days ago, and we are all still beaming from our accomplishment.

It is amazing what can be done when you present a united front, and allow what is fair and right to be your guide. For my niece, I pray she has learned a lesson in not taking no as an ultimate answer and fighting for what you want and believe. For my mother, father sister and I, I hope we have all learned to appreciate each others strengths, weaknesses and annoyances.

We feel so much stronger as a family, not because we achieved our goal, but because we all worked so hard that no matter what the outcome, we would have been satisfied knowing we tried.

We were repeatedly told no and each time we continued to push to find a yes, and we found it.

LESSON:
Do your research! When you are given an excuse that seems strong because you are unfamiliar with it, or its explanation is unclear, search for clarity. Search and or ask questions until you fully understand all points of your oppositions argument.

You cannot properly fight for what you want until you fully understand the basis that are being used to keep you away from your goal(s).

Clarity is your friend. Allow following through to be the motivation that binds you to what you know in your heart you deserve.

Best wishes to you as you make each of your dreams come true.

If you have a motivational story to share, please do. I look forward to reading your posts.
